LAB002: Slak

Art direction, cover artwork, layout, video teaser and logo design for LAB Music and its second release ‘Desire’ EP by Slak. Released on November 9th, 2020.

Slak debut on his own imprint with 3 balanced breaks/electro deep cuts entitled ‘Desireʼ including a remix from Datafive. The main track is built on fuzzy breakbeats, dubby pads and vibrant sound effects whilst ‘Intreccioʼ is more rhythmical with itʼs lively 909 hi hats, acid synths-and solid low end. Atmospherical but punchy, ‘Textureʼ with vocal echoes combining it with ethereal pads and clean breaks. Furthermore we have an elegant dʼnʼb remix of the track ‘Desireʼ from the co-owner Datafive, delivering the usual accurate mix of sound design, drums and dub-tech influences.

The cover artwork has been made using 3D elements arranged and animated in C4D + some graphics added in Photoshop. The purpose was to create an abstract image that would evoke a darker and yet organic universe, in opposition to LAB’s first release.

LAB Music is a new independent label focused on electronic music. Founded in Berlin 2019 by Datafive & Slak.
